‘Community that cares for itself’ underlines ambition with new appointment

Aylsham & District Care Trust (ACT) Chair, Jenny Manser, has announced the appointment of Daniel Williams as the new Executive Lead for the charity. Bringing over twenty years of voluntary sector management experience from across a number of community based health and social care organisations Mr Williams has taken the new role having volunteered for the charity for a number of years.

‘My Board and I are absolutely delighted that Daniel has agreed to join us as we take our next important steps into the future’ says Mrs Manser. ‘We celebrated our 31st anniversary in April this year, reflecting on just what a difference our charity makes across the wellbeing of our whole community. Our award winning development, and model of integrated health and social care is an exemplar for the provision of sustainable integrated health and social care in the community. Daniel’s experience will help us to share what we have learned more widely and promote similar projects with other communities. We want to help bring community owned solutions into partnership with statutory health and social care services across Norfolk’.

Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk and Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Health applauded the ambition; ‘The development of the St Michael’s integrated health and social care complex in Aylsham, driven by the local community, has provided a blueprint for partnership working which I am really keen should be further developed and pursued in far more places. Such an appointment, which further strengthens Aylsham & District Care Trust’s experience of strategic community partnerships across acute and community based health and social care, is an important further step in developing sustainable shared partnership solutions for the future’.

Mr Williams has held senior roles across a number of Norfolk charities, most notably serving nine years as Chief Executive of Big C, Norfolk’s cancer charity. With a background in the development and management of social housing Mr Williams also spent six years with the Prince’s Trust, managing their operations across Norfolk. ‘This is an important role for ACT at an exciting time in the development of the charity. Volunteering alongside the Board of Trustees over the past years has given me the chance to look in some detail at what we have achieved and how. ACT really is an example of coordinated community action, of people taking responsibility for improving their own health and social care support infra-structure. With rising concerns over the unsustainable costs of supporting our increasingly ageing population, ACT has learned so much. I am delighted to be able to play a part in helping us to share this experience with other communities.’
